FFXI

while i was checking up on game.co.uk's coming soon section i found that Final Fantasy 11 was being released again on 360 with all expansions for £25. Quite naturally i was turned on as it gives me an excuse to renew my XBL account and its final fantasy with loads of other killing plus with no uni expenses til october i can afford to pay the fees plus its a mumorperger and for me thats all new and exciting because with my parents needing the PC i couldn't play WoW....plus it was as entertaining as getting an arrow through your neck with a recent bank statement attached.

anyway before i plan my fake death so i can lock myself away and play this has anyone else had a go on it? i want to know if its worth it otherwise ill get Haze instead...

Lol... I remember Dave's rants on the faults of FFXI... dying and going back to level one and shit like that... makes me wonder if it's worth the subscription...

no vid reviews, just written. like all mmorpgs its a love/hate affair. apparently it also takes 4 hours to install plus registration but thats expected really (WoW was similar). with 30 days free i feel like its worth a go...need a new 360 title before Fable and Gears of War 2 anyway.

Now that's a title I want to hear about... Fable 2... that'll be an epic purchase, to say the least.

I own a copy of Final Fantasy XI for the 360, actually. Since I bought it (for some unknown reason) at the time that the 360 version came out, I don't have any of the latest expansions.

Based on my experience, it was pretty fun to play. I played the PC version (like an addict) for a few months so I was accustomed to the controls and basics of the game already. Transitioning to the 360 version wasn't too hard, though I do recommend getting a USB wireless keyboard so you can chat with other players and use macros/commands.

I don't know much about the latest expansions but I don't foresee myself going back to play the game anytime soon. I didn't have the time required to play a MMORPG and the money was also fairly expensive for my budget.

Oh and another thing: Since I had to buy this game to play it, (you cannot rent this game) I found out that I could not trade in the game for store credit at GameStop (a US-based retailer) due to a console and software lock. So if you find out that you don't like this game, you're stuck with it.

I heard about that problem, but I thought they'd updated subscription... obviously not... Anyway... It's good news for Billy then, as the Price drop will do the trick.

How much is that full kit though? Can it be used outside FFXI?

yeah its mainly used for MSN on 360. its £25 keypad and headset. ill ask for deatils though...if not ill just get a keyboard

yeah a normal one would work but it would be all up in my peripherals. waste of space as the messenger thing fits into the controller it fills the gap between the two grip parts.

Good deal, that'll probably work for ya. I have the messenger kit on my wishlist but I am thinking about using an extra keyboard I have laying around instead. There are plenty of times where I could use something for typing on the 360 anyway.

all i need is something like that really, if it lets me talk to people in the game i'll take it. I know i can get other keyboards for much cheaper but its just a space issue, i have enough stuff lying around so i don't want to add a large keyboard to it.

So the room of saucy banter's becoming a Online Gaming centre... not bad... now you can get your hands on some other onliners perhaps, with this keyboard, no?

plus it also seems that i'll have to get the messenger kit, i asked in my game store and he said usb keyboards were hit and miss. i did find a nice one for £10 (came with ps2 adapters) but with the added delivery charge to get it quick i dunno if its worth the risk...even though this one could be used on last gen.


Well after doing some researchy-search i found that any usb keyboard will work. i need it to type rather than play which is why the guy at the shop probably misunderstood.

Fair nuff, although wouldn't 360 marked hardware work better with the 360 itself... I heard about a lot of the GAME brand headsets messing up, and I'm worried it may happen to you...

If it can happen to something as simple as headsets, what's not to say it can happen for keyboards?
