Check that page out and Halo 3 is sitting pretty at the top with 1,758 of us having played it and Hexic HD (which was built into Xbox 360's) in at second place with only 1,706 of us booting it up. The Call of Duty series does not even crack the top 5, but will we see a game ever take over Halo 3?
I thought it may be to do with dual console releases but then I thought of Halo 5 and how widely publicised that was. It was on almost every ad-break in the UK yet only 751 members actually unlocked an achievement in it.
Every month Microsoft offers free games and even if you don't like them you download them to play when there's nothing, but if free games and big sequels aren't doing the job...what will it take to knock Halo 3 off the top spot?
Are we saying that a game must have a console SKU, been on GWG and potentially BC to make it to number 1?
I'm not sure if GTA4 or Halo Reach had console SKU's but I know Gears of War did.

Also, it probably helps that Halo is exclusive to MS, as is Gears, so, fans of that series are going to have an Xbox console. Call of Duty and other such games will usually have overall more players, but, spread out across Xbox, Playstation, and PC. Games like Mario, Uncharted, Gears of War, Halo, and God of War are always going to chart higher on their console, because people buy a specific console for them.
GTA is a massively popular series, and it cannot crack #1 on a console because it isn't exclusive.
Could we see it in the future when developers stop making games for both 360 and One and force users to the One to play their favourite game? GTA 5 would have been #1 if various platforms added together but I suspect same people bought it on both consoles haha, (me...I was one)
Probably not. Maybe on this site, with such a small user base, but probably not. Like you said, there are likely a lot of duplicates there. And GTA (as an example) still won't be X1 exclusive. It will have a PS4 and PC version. And Microsoft will have Gears 4 and Halo 6, and Playstation will have a new God of War or Uncharted or Killzone or whatever.
Maybe a GTA VI. There is just not enough Ones to surpass the numbers on 360. Plus there are more games to dilute players... With play everywhere, maybe the numbers will go up, not that I expect many PC people will come over to Live games.
The numbers are just not there for the One yet. Although maybe a Titanfall 2 or a Destiny 2.
