This is very easy so I don't know why it is so rare. That said, once you complete the quest line for any kingdom, you will unlock the hero class. Navigate to "class" under your hero settings and select it. You can change once per day for free, otherwise you must pay gold. The benefits are your hero will receive different stat boosts and appear as a specific mob type for spell effects.
