Lets discuss some movies!

New Fantastic Four cast with a Black Johnny Storm. Looks like another train wreak in the making.
My hope is it bombs bad enough that Fox will finally give up the rights and Marvel can make a real FF movie. I have the same hope for just about all of the marvel franchises they licensed out to major studios. Unfortunately by the time that happens the studios will have run them into the ground and no one will be willing to try them again.

I will say that Fox seems to have fixed the X-men and might even use Days to fix the broken timeline with everyone dead in it with the time jumping elements, or they might just act like 3 never existed. Although based on the stinger at the end of Wolverine I don't think that is happening.
X-Men Days of Future Past? With the trailers I've seen more like Wolverine 3.

I don't watch movie trailers unless they are before a movie I am at. Wolverine has been the central character of the franchise since the first movie so him being prominent in trailers isn't surprising. The only Fox made X-Men movie you can say isn't a Wolverine fest is First Class because he only has a cameo in it.

That is something along the lines of trillions in repair costs, uncountable loss of life, and overall wanton destruction.
I here the cast and cameo appearances in DFP is going to be substantial, clocking in every X-Men character and introducing Scarlet Witch and Quick Silver as central characters. Don't get me wrong I don't mind Wolverine being in the movie Hugh Jackman does a good role...bad writing but he's good...the problem I have is if he's to be central then this doesn't give other characters a chance to break in and breath new life to a dying franchise.. After X3 that is.. Honestly I haven't seem First Class so I can't judge, I do know however of First Class that they screwed up continuity pretty badly.

I'm done with FF, I will enjoy watching it crash and burn. Here is a link to the state of Marvel movie rights.

When/how did they fix X-men? The Wolverine? I though this was another bad movie in a line of bad movies.

You have to give Singer credit for the first two X-men movies. They did not follow comic lore, but they were done so well that they were fun and entertaining. He should have never left the franchise. Every other X-men related film has been so bad, that I am on the fence about going to see Days of Future Past. I would almost say that I don't care at this point and the funny thing is that Fox already has another film scheduled after this.

I know they were trying to make Sups a bit more human and fallible, but that was totally unnecessary.. I watched that and saw many other ways that should've gone.

When you said rape I was thinking a little...um well you know...

As for the new FF I can say your the first person who's told me anything about it, I've not herd anything...a black Johny Storm? Does this mean he's Not related to Susan?? Yea bad idea from the start.. I understand about mixing things up and being all PC these days, but you can't just completely screw with 50+ years of history.. I really hope they reconsider this. Unless Susans going to be black too and even then still don't understand why.

Much the same way that a What If? or an Elseworld or even an ULTIMATE comic have only a passing association with another book.

When it comes to Marvel directly, I love that they have dubbed the "Marvel Cinematic Universe" as it's own universe in the multiverse, Marvel-199999. This indicates that it is not the primary comic universe, Marvel-616, or even the Ultimate universe, Marvel-1610, or even the animated universe (from the Fox cartoons of the 90s), Marvel-92131.

So, if this universe has a black Johnny Storm, fine. Think about the previous two FF movies. They took decent enough actors, used bits and highlights directly from classic FF and Ultimate FF, made the characters look almost exactly as they did in those books, and produced shit. So, how about they go the complete opposite direction? Start with the basic idea, and create something unique from the ground up.

Unless race is actually part of what makes the character (Luke Cage, T'Challa, Daniel Rand-Kai, Kenuichio or Shin Harada), then I don't really care. Plus, the Johnny Storm has the distinction of being created at a time when heroes almost HAD to be Caucasian and he isn't even the original Human Torch, but the second one.

For the Fantastic Four itself, they really haven't been 100% the same through their history. Ben Grimm was originally a mass of orange much like Iceman was a snowball. Sue Storm was just invisible, and did not get force fields till much later in the comics. And even the roster has seen shifting, Crystal, Medusa, Power Man (Luke Cage), Nova (Frankie Raye), She-Hulk, Ms. Marvel (Sharon Ventura), Ant-Man (Scott Lang), Namorita, Storm, and the Black Panther have all been temporary/permanent members. For 3 issues they even made a temporary team of the Hulk (in his "Joe Fixit" persona), Spider-Man, Wolverine, and Ghost Rider.

So, no, Johnny Storm being black does not bother me...
Ok let me revisit my statement. I'm actually well aware and versed in the FF lore, Marvel, DC and so many other universes...the core universes, not the new off shoots, ie ultimate's and not too many elsworlds soi can appreciate your passion and knowledge. I'm not opposed to Johnny being black. I don't mind the rewrites and tweeks they do for the movies because I understand they need to sell to the masses, if they catered to us fanboys we'd win and still gripe and the sales would be so bad they'd never make another film. Though it hurts me to see these changes I do understand them. I even like some of them.

I understand they want to make new for new readers, but when they start blending these universes' making changes to the comic based on the movie...or crossing the lines in the comics. That's why I hated DC for a long time before the original crisis and when that "fixed" things I became a big time DC fan and watched as Marvel began to crumble the way DC once had. Now the new 52 and the muddled up world of the constant rebooting of both universes I've just had enough of it.

Now the movies are starting the same thing, keep the continuity of what we know, not too many franchise can pull of major character/actor changes... 007 being one that sticks out as standing the test if time, but the general public doesn't know the FF... So changing Johnny you have to change Sue I think its just going to look as a bad PC stunt..

I'm not happy about Jamie Fox being picked to be Electro, bit the trailers I've seen are beginning to change my mind.. Now that Harry Osbourne really concerned me...looks way to much like a Leonardo Di Caprio clone to me..lol..

Except that you kind of make my point. The movies are not the comics, and never can be, so, why be held to them. Most people tend to think that the Marvel Cinematic Universe has done the best job, so far, and they did exactly like I said. Movies are their own entity. Let them stand alone.

Does it make money? Then it will be overkill:

Young adult fiction is popular because of Harry Potter? Jump on that train with any slightly similar idea.

Those books made good movies? Make all of them movies.

Splitting the final book into two movies worked? Hello 2-part finales.

What is that, a game where you play guitar? How about 2, and play drums and sing, and one every year, maybe two a year?

Just look back over the past 30 years. If it was popular, and made money, it was copied, processed, and driven into the ground.
I love industrialisms and excess!! I just can't wit to see the new Star Wars...and I wonder what there drawing that story from.. getting giddy, really hope they don't screw this up.

I'd like to see more of the crimson guards..

For me they have been enjoyable again since First Class(so the last 2 movies). Not sure what issues people have with First Class. The only viable issue I see is Havoc is in it and it is placed in the 60's which would make him old enough to be Scott's father, however since the movie universe doesn't always follow the comic conventions they might not be brothers in the movie universe. Feel free to state the issues you have with it and I will think about them.
It's not only Havok, Emma Frost and Mystic are both in it. Also the First Class was the original X-Men:

Marvel Girl, Cyclops, Beast, Iceman and Angel. Since I have not yet seen the movie in it's entirety I can not intelligently talk about it at this time.. but my friend has told me about it and I will eventually see it and when I do.. I will be prepared to talk.

In the comics yes, but it would be impossible for that to be the case in the movies since most of those characters where on the team(or at the school) in current day(at the time: 2000) which is why of the true comics originals only Beast appears since he was in his 60-70s in the current day movies.

It has already been discussed that the movie universe is separate from the comics universe so this is the first class in the movie universe. If they had used First class to reboot the franchise instead of as a prequel then they could have used the true original team. This all comes down to people having issues with changes being made to fit within the current X-Men movie universe. Unless I missed something Frost and Mystic did not appear in the current day films so how them being in first class breaks something I can't figure out.

Ignoring the comic history I find nothing wrong with First class, about the only issue I see is in X3 when Mystique lost her powers she turned into a young woman instead of an old woman. However if they retcon X3 like most people want then that wouldn't be a problem.
