So I ran across a couple articles on Polygon panning the leaked Batman vs Superman trailer.

Apparently this explains the above trailer better:

So, I was very happy and loved the Chris Nolan Batman movies. I can't say the same about any of the Supermans lately. I mean even Ironman has more street cred lately.

So just curious, what is everybody else's opinion? Is this really going darker that dark? Too dark? Has the Superman franchise lost its way? Does anybody wish JJ Abrahams(Wait, his name is tied to Portal/Half-Life?!) or Joss Whedon were available?! Should I have never started this thread on a Monday morning?

Warner Bros has a horrendous track record with superhero movies (the Nolan trilogy was actually done out of their reach, with a ton of freedom, and merely distributed via WB). Even though Man of Steel entertained me, there were plenty of "wow, really? you're going to go that far with it? OK..." moments.

After watching the trailer last week, I really was not any more interested in seeing it than I already was, and that is far less interested than I am in Avengers 2, Ant-Man, or Cap 3. Yes, Batman and Superman have had great fights in the comics, but always for good reasons (usually because the writer at the time makes Superman a gullible, government stooge), but, Man of Steel did not really lead us to think there would be one. So, is Batman an asshole, just looking for a fight? Is he a xenophobic douche that beats up terrestrial foreigners regularly, and is excited to finally have a REAL illegal alien to bully? Or, do we finally get the stupid Batman that no fan has ever asked for?
I quite enjoyed Man of Steel, and I feel good about Lex showing up. He tends to introduce tougher moral and philosophical questions rather than acting as another big, ugly target for Supes to punch. With Batman's viewpoint in the mix, there's a lot of potential that can come from this mix of ideals, so I'm interested to see where they go with it.
I am a huge Batman fan but DC or WB or whoever is making these movies just need to stop. We need other heroes from the comics making film debuts. Marvel is dominating live action superhero films and shows right now. Marvel isn't scared to introduce other heroes into the universe. DC just needs to let Batman and Superman go and quit milking them. There are so many other great DC characters that need films or TV shows. What pisses me off the most about these batman/superman movies is we see the same damn villains we've already seen. What about Solomon Grundy, Firefly, Killer Croc, Black Mask, Clayface, Hush, Zsasz, Darkseid, Doomsday, Brainiac, and Ultra-Humanite??? If they are going to continue with Batman and Superman movies we at least need some different villains in the mix to keep it some what fresh. Am I going to see Batman v Superman? Probably. Do I have high hopes? Nope.

Fortunately, Batman shouldn't require much acting.
I think Affleck will be fine as Batman, he just doesn't seem like much of a Bruce Wayne.

Well we are getting Killer Croc in the Suicide Squad movie so that's a plus.
Ok so we know that the movies don't cater to the super fan boys and stick close to the cannon of the comics. With that said I usually walk in to movies with high hopes but keep my expectations low. As long last the don't change the fundamentals of the character I'm ok with it, there have been hits and misses and with every iteration of any comic (hero) to movie I have loved and hated parts of each. Hated more of some like the god awful Ange Lee HULK, or Val Kilmers Bat, ugh can't even say their names together and pretty much loved the Avengers and even Nolans Dark Knight (but for other reasons) You see even though Ledgers Joker was a vast departure for the original, it gave something to the character that I really enjoyed. Hey I even love Nicholson as the Joker (his portrayal was actually almost spot on)

I've herd me pretty far out stuff for the synopsis of this movie and they all seem viable. Yes from the trailer, the film seems pretty dark. It looks like that Superman is being hailed and worshiped like a god, which I can see how that can happen. The Batman angle? Well IF we go by what they released at Comicon at the first announcement of this epic picture, one would think they are going to try and do the end scene of The Dark Knight Returns Comic, which really wouldn't make much sense because at that time both heroes have been well established and have worked together for years and in this case these two heroes are pretty much just beginning their careers...so maybe that was just a pretense to get the hype up. The teaser trailer does make BAtfleck sound a bit xenophobic as stated, but only one partial conversation can be taken out of context or used as misdirection. I didn't quite like the voice and I'm really hoping that was not Batman's voice at the end.

I would say I'm not going to be too judgmental, after all Micheal Keaton surprised me as Batman, but Affleck has already screwed up one Marvel character on the big screen.

As for introducing new characters, they are doing just that in this movie, We've all herd that there are more movies coming and it look like this will either be a two part or direct lead in to Justice League.

I'll reserve my judgement until after I see the final product.

Heath Ledger's Joker was more accurate, actually. The comics catered to the masses post 1989 to stylize the Nicholson portrayal of himself in grease paint.

And they have already said this is OLD Batman, end of his career. Ben Affleck is well past playing the youngster, just starting out. He is 42...
