Neither. While both had a very strong and important influence on the musical and larger world around them, both groups grew into monsters of themselves.

Rape Me is probably the highlight of Nirvana's career, while Metallica actually showed great growth and promise with the release of Load, but gave in to fear and doubt to release the two crappiest albums they have ever put forth.

Faith No More is where it's at...
I can't say I have really liked either but if I had to I would say nirvana

As for Nirvana, I think Grunge was very close to a disco pop Metal and paved the way to a lot of the new bands main stream sounds and expectancy. Either that or my generation is finally grown up enough to make a difference...lol.. I don't know where Nirvana would be today. I like the Foo Fighters, but not as much as Nirvana, but I'm glad we got to hear what Dave Grohl has been able to bring. I think Nirvana would have eventual disintegrated eventually and Dave would probably still have brought The Foo Fighters to life, but I think they may not have been seen for what they are and they probably wouldn't h ave become as popular either.. I could defiantly see a Metallica/Megadeth rival between them or maybe even a Beatles type of story (minus the Yoko Ono splinter)

Really thought there is not much of a comparison to both groups..so it harkens the more fobbing question: So Fsh, do you really care about either of these groups?

Honestly, I think you guys need to rewatch the videos above... I don't think you really remember these bands correctly...

They should never have done a Metallica mash with that guy.. but still begs the question from you, which do you prefer.

If none of you guys above have checked out those videos go ahead you won't be disappointed, expect by the Metallica one that was just god awful.
