I only recognise 4 people from that list. Does that make me ignorant or would Australians probably not heard of some of them?

Agreed, before the internet I would say yes, but also the world of social media has really changed that term... not that I agree with most of them though.

No, it hasn't. The term still means a person that is the object of celebration. 75% of that list does not fall under that definition to the masses.

And most of that list wouldn't even be part of the internet or social media "fame" that people think exists.
