Has the site considered a Badge Team? Since badges seem to be a drawing point, and there are many requests/suggestions each day, why don't you put together a team that is dedicated to that feature?

Make sure that there is a common element to the badges, so that if some series have a play one badge versus other series having a complete one badge, maybe make sure both series have both, or one or the other.

Just seems like you have one person currently as the public face of the site in the forums, and he has more than he can handle. (Honestly, he could probably use just some regular moderator help, too.)
<---Volunteers, if you'd have me.

The badges here are awesome, but they seem rather scattered without consistency, especially in the "series" badges. A badge team could simply be the managing body between the community and Eric, compiling and reviewing badge requests, establishing ground rules/policies (i.e. discouraging badges based on mischievous behavior/spamming), and updating series as new games are released.

I'd suggest a committee of 3-4 people so that ideas could be discussed for pros/cons and no one person (outside Eric) would have too much power to swing a badge vote.

As futiles mentioned, it would also take some pressure off the moderators if the badge team was responsible for updating stuck/wayward badges. All of his ideas were exactly what I would have suggested, if I had gotten around to it sooner.
Adding nothing constructive to a thread near you

What exactly is the point of this thread?

Any consideration on this? I can think of a few regular members that would be good voices for this, too.

My understanding is badge are tightly controlled by Eric.

It would assist Eric, and take workload off of him, while allowing him to still have final say on badges, but, just have the wants and needs presented to him organized and logically.
I wholeheartedly agree! I think a Badge Team would help create consistency within the badges, come up with great ideas, and filter the ideas from the community - taking a great work load off Eric.

BTW - I'd love to help out. I have a wee bit of Badge Team experience Wink

Sounds like a great idea and I would volunteer
