Recently Telltale, the creators of the GOOD Walking Dead game, announced they would be releasing the first episode of an episodic Minecraft game in 2015. What are your thoughts on this?
I personally think it will be an interesting experience and quite good given Telltale's track record in the past few years and it doesn' deserve the uproar it's brough from the "gaming community". Notch has created a franchise and to keep a franchise alive you have to do new and interesting things. Look at COD for example, same thing for going on 8 years now and its popularity has dropped an insane amount.
Notch is gone, so whatever with him. Congrats to him, I hope he enjoys his billions Wink

I'm all for as much Minecraft in any given form. It's my daughters #1 favorite game, followed by Skylanders and everything else is just fluff. She spends more time watching Minecraft videos on YouTube than playing it. Also, I love the Telltale games, and if it's like the current ones my daughter could certainly play it. Right now, they are all too mature for a 8 (almost 9) year old.

She's a new one my daughter is interested in). Most of the things are amazing that she has learned just by watching them. I think a game like the one Telltale is making will probably be too easy for her, but it will be highly entertaining if she likes it as much as I liked The Wolf Among Us.
I actually have not seen uproar. More like "where do I pre-order? I have too much money in my wallet/account, and you should have some of it!"

Not sure about this... I'm sure they can make up some story, just always think about movies based on games like Battleship...

Facebook has turned into an over dramatic pit of lies, rumors, gossip, and lately among idiots racism. People will tend to complain about everything there. It's hard for me to find a person who isn't negative. I wouldn't rely on anyone's opinion unless they're your best friend. Most people post nonsense. Do you remember the people that thought you could microwave your phone to charge it in minutes because the radiation matched the cellular waves or something ridiculous? Remember seeing those same people complain, and post pictures of their destroyed phones? Yeah, their opinions on how I get my entertainment doesn't even register on my list.

Take critics lightly.

As far as people not being happy about Telltale's Minecraft don't pay attention to them. In one group you will have people saying there is no story there. However, how many stories have people created for their own Minecraft worlds? It's surprising that people think Telltale can't come up with something equally as good, if not better than their own stories, they have an excellent record of games with awesome stories they've created by using source material. Another group you might find will be the die-hard fanboy purists of Minecraft that believe nothing should happen for Minecraft other than additional upgrades for the core game. They don't appreciate growth. To me being a fan of music those types of people remind me of when people started hating Metallica because the members cut their hair. Both of those camps have imbeciles you don't wan't to deal with.

I just with I had the money to afford all of Telltale's games. I wish they would make a Invader Zimm, Lobo, Spawn, or the Maxx game... I know they are old franchises but they are legendary!

I see this as an open shot in the coming salvo.

I should probably just live in a bunker with my wife, daughter, a few consoles, wifi, a bunch of books, a million cans of food, fresh water, and kill my tv. But, I'm forced to live in a real world.
This is basically what I expect to see when I think of a Minecraft "story" mode game:

Why would anyone complain about Minecraft cashing in on it's success. Were people against the idea of a Lego game with a story mode? They combined some of the biggest licenses with Lego and sold tons of games, some of which only have miming and no voices. People loved Lego Star Wars. I like your video Hyrule and it did make me laugh, but why can't there be a Minecraft the Hobbit if there is a Lego the Hobbit? I would like that, though I like the violent Candy Crush better.

I imagine it will probably have an anxiety ridden daylight where you meet people to help you construct a few buildings, or maybe one massive building. There will probably be a farm and a mine shaft built. Then at nite things will get stressful i.e. The Walking Dead but with Creepers and a Enderman or two. You'll have choices that play out at the end, but in the long run not that much matters. It won't be a genius game, but neither are any of the Lego games.
I cannot say for sure if it will be a good game or a bad game; I really have heard little about their intentions. As for why it can't be like the Lego games (such as the "Minecraft the Hobbit" you suggested) is that, so far as I've heard, they have not announced that they are tying the Minecraft "Story Mode" game to some other license. The Hobbit, Star Wars, Batman, Marvel, Indiana Jones, Pirates of the Caribbean, etc., all had stories and story driven worlds to build off of. Yes, there are certainly other Lego games (hell, even the "Lego Movie" exists now) that are more tied to the "world-based" sets than to any existing story, so certainly a Minecraft game could do that. A Minecraft story mode game could, in theory, be an RPG game similar to the older Final Fantasy or Dragon Warrior games. The fact is, we have no idea what they intend beyond it being a Telltale episodic (read: "Choose Your Own Adventure" style point-and-click) game.

So while it is possible that they can do something amazing with it, I'm holding off on my dance of joy until I know more.

Anyway, just so you know I'm not bashing on you, if it reads that way. Just agreeing, again.

Well as a father who's trying to plan a Minecraft birthday party next week, there are a lot more licensing opportunities to be capitalized on. Right now there are a few plushes, one off things, and lots of tee shirts. Compare to Angry Birds, where I can easily buy an entire bedroom of stuff (which was her birthday party LAST year).
