With the PS4 big release of No Man's Sky last Tuesday who picked it up or has played it.
I preorder this on a recommendation by a friend.
My first impression is I like the exploring and cataloging flora and fauna but after a time it's all the same. This game has potential with updates but it's easily summed up as Inventory Manager 2016 a Space Adventure. Really be nice to see variety on planets but hope the updates add something really worth playing.
It never struck me as a full-price game, and I don't think it even started out as one either. I intend to pick it up later when I need something else to play. It's the kind of game I can play casually to relax and scratch my exploration itch.

I will add in, the curve for figuring things out can be aggravating. I'm still trying to learn things. I thought I couldn't fly my ship for the longest time because I was missing a resource that I couldn't find on the planet I was at. Finally realized I could fly and wasn't stranded anymore.

I still haven't built a lot of technology that I've learned just because you don't have the space to do it and you can't buy a bigger ship early on because of the money it costs to buy one.

If you really wanna see my slow progress, I've been uploading videos along the way while I've been playing.

Hopefully that link works.

I did however get to trade out my guy that can hold more slots now. I just need to find some material for a tech I want to put on it but not sure what it looks like yet.

They put out patch 1.04 yesterday. So it might have fixed some issues.

The last couple of ships I've found have been equal or less to what I had. I found a planet with a lot of Emril, mining one stack gets me around 300-400k for 20 minutes of mining.

I think when you find a ship, it might only be 1 higher than what you have. So you should get it, and then the next crashed ship you find should be 1 above that. I could be wrong but I think I read it somewhere.
So, what kind of game is it? I see people talking about it, but not actually ABOUT it.

There is a space station in every galaxy for trading and buying materials. Other than that it's kinda minecraft in space exploration.

Pppfffttt... only the aliens and you can't understand them. You have to discover runes on planets to learn word to understand them. As for multi-player maybe in an update but it's too bare bones at this point it gets boring after a few planets. Little story little fighting (more fighting with inventory management than anything) it really about farming mats for $$ at this point in the game.
I bought it on Steam last night, messed around a bit, repaired my ship, and went to bed. Game doesn't like running in 4K, like it won't sense my keyboard, mouse, or controller inputs sometimes. Runs just fine in 1080p.

No idea there.

Got to a second planet and a waypoint this morning and then went to work.

I will try it some this weekend.
I actually borrowed a PS4 for a week to play it. It'll be the end of Sept before I can borrow it for another week to play it again.

On the 3rd planet I made it to is when I started getting into a groove and wanted to play more.

Well, Steam says I've spent 37 hours on it, doesn't seem like that much, but I've gotten my money's worth... Hard to say if it's my best money's worth.

I recommend going for the Atlas path.. There is a use for your Atlas balls, but it's debatable whether keeping them and taking up storage and the money for them is worth it.

Another mistake I made was not paying attention and realizing I get a warp drive modifier add on... There are 3 or 4 upgrades that you might get when talk to aliens. Or are we the aliens? With the first add on, you can jump about 7 or 8 hops at once, so worth looking for.

I found some gold, like, a giant big mound of it. So, I mined it all out, and the very next alien gave me a lot of space bucks for it.

I played it. If you asked me on release day or shortly after what I thought, I would have said that I loved it and it was amazing. Unfortunately, it's a game where the limitations and repetition becomes painfully obvious early on. We'll see if patches and updates improve upon it, but right now I've more or less lost interest.
