IGN: CryENGINE 3 Teaser Video - trailer included.

Crytek are behind the engines of FarCry (1) and Crysis/Crysis Warhead. This engine has been built with multiplat in mind. I must say that it looks awesome considering that it's made for more than one machine and looks better than any exclusive (in my view). Just note that this does not mean that Crysis or anything related to it is coming to consoles. It's just an engine demo.

They're showing the portability of their code base. Honestly, console programming is beyond difficult on the PlayStation3 due to it's lack of processing instruction within Sony's very prized SDK. I'm sure it would almost be easier bringing engines on over to the Xbox360 platform.

I agree, thanks to sony wanting to use new hardware they made it harder for devs to do thier job and they only supply companies who make thier exclusives. however those people at crytek seem to know thier stuff.

Indeed. They've really pushed the boundaries and give companies like Havok a decent competitor when it comes to physics and HD rendering.

Can't wait to see what they come up with for consoles. Hopefully they are working on a new title and optimising it so it works great across all platforms.

Forget simply the Cry Engine. I want to see a superior model of the old Geo Mod Engine. You'd think with bluray and HD, games would be able to use HD well/

Theres a new RF coming out sometime. I just haven't followed it closely as the older games weren't that great unless you wanted to make holes in things. The Cry Engine is just far more superior in terms og graphical achievment. Even if you can't blow walls down you can do pretty much anything else.

it won't look that good in action, most likely. early demos of Crysis were far above what was finally released, and the same goes for most engines. still, good to see more competition moving things in the right direction.
I think that Cry IS great, Billy. However, I would LOVE to see more destructive scenery integrated into gameplay. So many games would be superior due to it. Having your cover blown up is definitely hair raising.

Did you play Uncharted on PS3? Theres quite a bit of that in there.

I agree, I was referring to that.

But hopefully the scale of destructive scenery will be much larger in future titles...

Try Brothers in Arms Hells Highway. although i think youve already played and completed it?

same as you, stopped halfway. It got a bit tedious in the end. However, yes, the scale was better. However, I'm still waiting for the day the Source Physics engine and Geo Mod come together/

That would rule gaming eternally.

Doubt it would happen. People would rather use the U3 engine as its the easitest to work with. Either that or make thier own like Rockstar with GTA4 and Ubi with FC2. There are bunches of RF3 vids on Gametrailers i think and some are on XBL. Havent watched them though.

Agreed. The U3 engine has amazing compatability, much higher than that of Source or the CryEngine.

yeah but its also getting really old and overused, they need to make an upgrade for it...and a big one.
