Crap. I beat both those numbers... and I'm still enjoying myself. (now that I stopped caring about 360voice streaks)

I think the issue with being an older gamer is that it's relatively new. I am 28 and was born around the time Nintendo was really taking off. So, I am the first generation in my family that grew up with video games. I think it'll become more and more normal as every generation since will have always had games around... and not just console. PC... Mobile.. Ect.

Otherwise, I just view it as a form of entertainment. One of my wives friends asked "wasn't I too old to play video games" and I shot right back "aren't you too old to find entertainment in Real House Wives and the Kardashians?"

It's all a matter of preference... To me, an extremely well written story in a video game will trump any TV show or Movie out there.

I could ramble on and on about great gaming experiences, like the moving statues in Bioshock, or Doms death in GoW3, or countless others, that moved me psychologically more than any show ever has. The amazement of the upside down castle in Symphony of the Night, the rush of those last few blips rushing down in Centipede, or the sting of death on any CoD veteran campaign seconds before the checkpoint - all more striking than the greatest episode of Breaking Bad, or Game of Thrones, or Hell's Kitchen.

It's caused us to demand greater entertainment from more unlikely sources, forcing developers to think outside the box, create really eye-opening situations and dynamics that keep engaging us. The evolution of gaming has impressed me over the last few years, and I'm still missing out on current trends.

Anyways, well said up there.
