My Public Profile

What is the Public Profile Page?

Every member has a publicly viewable profile page. This page includes information provided by the member, either during the registration process or later on via the Account Dashboard.

There are a number of ways to view a member's profile:

  • Whenever you see a member's name, clicking on it will usually take you to view their profile page.
  • The Member List allows you to browse a large number of registered members, and quickly click through to their public profile.
  • You can view your own public profile by logging into the site and clicking on your username in the header at the top of the page.
  • You can also go straight to a profile if you know the username of the member by typing in the following into your web browser: https://www.gamertagnation.com/member.php?username=<username of the member>

What's on the Public Profile Page?

The public profile lists recent activity and information provided by the member. It also includes statistical information, such as the number of badges they have unlocked, game progress, and their registration date. Other profile details include the friends list (more info), avatar, profile background, gamertag stats, showcase and more.

What are Profile Comments?

Profile comments are publicly viewable comments posted on member profile pages. To post a comment, click on the Comment button at the top of the activity feed you would like to share your post to. You may use simple BB code formatting in your comments to help liven them up a bit. Comments posted here will be viewable by all visitors to the profile, including guest or unregistered users. To communicate privately with a member, send a Private Message instead.

Profile comments can be edited or deleted by site staff, the member who posted the comment, or the member who owns the profile.

Account Dashboard

The Account Dashboard is where you control your personal settings, options and preferences. To visit the Dashboard, you must have first registered on the site. Once logged in, click on the Gamertag Nation logo in the header bar at the top of the page to visit your account dashboard.

The Account Dashboard main page will list any new activity, including new private messages and friends activity. Additional pages and forms allow you to control:

  • Your email address and password
  • Custom public profile settings
  • Private messages
  • Activity feed settings
  • Gamertag settings
  • Member avatar and profile background
  • Subscribed threads
  • Friends and block list

Manage Account Settings

How do I modify my account settings?

You can change your account information from the account settings page. This page provides you with an overview of your account details and allows you to quickly navigate to other settings pages using the tabs at the top of the page.

Your Friends List

Where is my friends list displayed?

Your friends list can be found on the Manage Friends page under your Account Dashboard and on your member profile.

How do I add someone to my friends list?

Simply view the profile page of the person you want to become friends with and click the Add Friend button located towards the top of the page. They will be added to your friends list once they have accepted your friend request.

How do I manage my friends list?

You can manage your friends list from the Manage Friends page located on your Account Dashboard.

To remove someone from your friends list:

  • Visit the Manage Friends page and click the X icon next to friends that you wish to remove as a friend.
  • Visit the Friends page on your member profile and click the X icon next to friends that you wish to remove as a friend.
  • Visit the other person's profile and click the Friends button located towards the top of the page. A modal window will appear to confirm your selection. Simply click the Unfriend button to remove them from your friends list.

How do I manage my friend requests?

You can manage your friend requests from the Friend Requests page. Simply click the Accept button for requests you wish to accept, and click the Ignore button for requests you do not want to accept. Accepting a friend request will add that user to your friends list.

Private Messaging

How do I send Private Messages?

Private messages work a little like email, but are limited to registered members of the site. You may include BB code, smilies and images in private messages that you send.

You may send a private message to other members by clicking the New Message button in the private messaging section (more info), or by clicking the Message button at the top of each member's profile. Additionally, you can quickly private message someone using the Private Message option located in the drop down menu that appears beside a member's post.

When you send a message, you will have the option to save a copy of it in your Sent Items folder.

How do I work with Private Message folders?

The Inbox folder contains any new messages you receive. It allows you to view all the messages you have received, along with the name of the person who sent it, and the date and time it was sent.

The Sent Items folder contains a copy of any messages that you have sent, where you have specified that you wish to keep a copy for future reference.

Each folder has a set of message controls which allow you to select messages and delete them. Once you have selected your messages, you can choose the following options in the 'Selected Messages' box at the bottom of the list:

  • Delete
  • Mark as Read
  • Mark as Unread

You will need to periodically delete old messages since there is a limit to the number of private messages you may have. If you exceed this number, you will not be able to send or receive new messages until you delete some old ones.

Whenever you read a message, you will have the option to reply or forward it to another member. You may also have the ability to forward that message to multiple members of your friends list.

Subscriptions

What are thread subscriptions?

Subscriptions are a way of keeping track of different threads. You can choose how you are notified about updates - for example by having them listed in your Account Dashboard and receiving email updates for each one.

How do I subscribe to a thread?

To subscribe to a thread, click the Subscribe button at the top of the thread to open the subscription confirmation window. You can then choose the subscription mode that you wish to use for that thread. Click the Add subscription button to confirm your new subscription.

What subscription modes are available?

  • No Email Notification - lists the subscription on your Account Dashboard only. You will not receive any notifications about new posts in that thread.
  • Instant Email Notification - sends an email as soon as a new post is added to the thread. This is not sent for every post and will only be sent once until you revisit the forums.
  • Daily Email Notification - sends one email a day for new posts in threads you are subscribed to. If there are no new posts then you will not receive an email.
  • Weekly Email Notification - sends one email per week in the same way as the Daily Email Notification.

How do I manage my thread subscriptions?

You can manage your thread subscriptions by clicking Thread Subscriptions in the side menu of your Account Dashboard. Here you can select which subscriptions you wish to manage and delete them, or change their subscription type.
