zoid posted a guide for Tropicoleaks.

Build a Spy Academy, hire some teachers, and get agents trained. Once you have some, go to the Espionage menu and assign agents to Expose Secrets. You can assign half your agents to one superpower and the other half on another superpower.

Now I did this achievement during the World Wars era so the Allies and the Axis are the only Superpowers, but once the EU, China, and the Middle East join the game, they are also considered Superpowers and count towards the achievement as well.

If your agents keep failing to expose secrets, you can purchase the License to Kill upgrade to improve your odds. However, if your agents fail, they will be killed and you'll have to wait until more can be trained. I didn't buy the upgrade and didn't have too much trouble.

zoid posted a guide for Presidente's Seven.

When I was done with every other achievement I only had four dynasty members. When I did was start the a new campaign starting with Cayo De Fortuna and finished the mission ASAP.

The second mission you want to start on the island of Bao Bao. After a while I was always able to get a new dynasty member, about 10 minutes into the mission.

It took me about an hour to get the remaining 3 dynasty members this way.

zoid posted a guide for Overqualified.

First off, you're going to need some money in your Swiss account to actually pay to upgrade the skills. You'll get some money in the process of playing the campaign, but Swiss money can be made by having a Customs Office with the "Special Tax" activated, having a Bank(s) set to "Slush Fund", hiring Moneygrubbers as managers for some of your higher-budget buildings, etc.

If you're in the late-late-game, repeatedly researching "Research to Swiss Account" is a good bet. With 3 Science Labs, 3 Observatories, a Library, a College, two Clinics, a Hospital and a Space Program all maxed out and researching I was getting "Research to Swiss Account" every 15-16 months or so. About 5 years of doing this while slushing money and "Special Tax"-ing my exports netted me like a quarter of a million dollars in my Swiss Account - plenty for this achievement.

Now, there comes a catch. You can only upgrade each dynasty member once in a mission before the price goes way, way up. There's a fairly painless way around it though.

Play the quickest game you possibly can. Sandbox game, starting in Modern Times. Set the win condition to Construction: Space Program. Load up the game, upgrade your dynasty member (or members if you feel so inclined, but you only need to get one of them to level 5) and save. Be sure to overwrite your old, not-upgraded dynasty if prompted. Then quick build a power station of some kind, and then build your Space Program.

Donezo. You just "won" a mission, and can now start up a new sandbox game (using the same file if you wish) and upgrade your dynasty member again for the low, low price of 10, 20, 30, or 40k, rather than 100k or whatever exorbitant amount it goes up to. Shouldn't take long at all to do this four times, provided you have the Swiss Account money.

zoid posted a guide for Critical Roll.

If you’re attempting this achievement today the only way to acquire the D20 is by buying it from Larinna, who you can find standing outside each Tavern on every Outpost in the game.

The dice don’t come cheap - they’ll cost you 300 doubloons - but it’s a small price to pay for a rare achievement. Once you’ve bought the dice, go to a vanity chest and equip the Roll D20 emote.

Then just select that emote over and over to keep rolling the die. Eventually you’ll roll a 20 and unlock the achievement.

zoid posted a guide for I Don’t Believe.

This is unlocked by finding the alternate ending. (I’m trying to avoid spoilers but you’ve been warned.)

Near the very end of the game a character will hand you a set of keys. Instead of using these keys for their intended purpose, return to the alley you came from and use the keys to unlock the door you previously exited.

Once through the door head back up the several sets of stairs until the credits roll and this achievement unlocks.

zoid posted a guide for A Professional Pirate.

    Updated 12-23-2022 09:48 PM
You can do this aboard a friend's owned ship, but I highly recommend you use your own so that you can also earn progress towards The Seasoned Ship achievement. (A sloop can be purchased in the main menu for 250k gold)

You need to get one category of your pirate milestones - “The Gold-Seeker”, “The Voyager”, etc - up to 50. There are several categories, and several ways of ranking up each category, but I believe the method I used is the easiest, most foolproof way:

Just sleep onboard an owned ship while a member of the crew. …no, it’s not exciting or particularly heroic, but if you’re a pirate of modest ability like myself, this is the way to do it. The ship doesn’t need to be *your* ship, but as I said, if it is you’ll earn progress towards the even-rarer The Seasoned Ship achievement so you might as well.

Sleeping for 5 minutes (cumulatively) earns you 1 rank of “The Rogue”. Unlike most things that rank up your pirate/ship milestones, this can be done almost entirely passively, and takes much less time than the other passive methods, like sitting aboard your ship or playing shanties.

At 5 minutes per rank and 50 ranks needed for the achievement, you’re looking at 4 hours and 10 minutes of catching ZZZZs on the high seas. Unfortunately, your pirate will only sleep for 5 minutes at a time, but there’s nothing stopping you from immediately going back to bed.

You could knock this out in one lengthy session, or you could do what I did and get a few minutes of shuteye before logging off for the day and do this is segments.

Note that you will also rank up your Ship Milestones this way, getting you to The Rogue rank 50, and unlocking the Seasoned Ship achievement as well. It’s not glamorous - real pirating rarely is - but it’s a foolproof way to get two fairly rare achievements with very little trouble. Worse case, you get your ship sunk, respawn elsewhere, and get back to sleep with only a few minutes lost.

zoid posted a guide for Determined.

Hints are activated with the X button, so keep your hands off, you scurvy dogs. You can load a save if you use one accidentally, but come on, just don’t press the button in the first place and make it easier on yourself.

The in game hint system is less spoiler-y than using a walkthrough, so better to use a hint if need be and postpone this achievement until your speedrun playthrough, which you’ll need to do anyway to 100% the game.

zoid posted a guide for Five Minutes Later....

Trying to avoid spoilers here so I’ll keep it vague.

There is a point where Guybrush and another character find themselves suspended over a bubbling cauldron of unpleasantness. Rather than embarking on a daring escape like you’re supposed to, simply do nothing until [something bad] happens and the achievement unlocks.

I have heard this achievement can glitch out on you if your controller turns off due to inactivity, so depending on your settings you may want to wiggle the sticks once or twice while you wait to prevent that. As long as you don’t go clicking on anything you’ll still be on track to unlock the achievement.

zoid posted a guide for Free Thinker.

This achievement is basically Monkey Master with a margin of error. The X button activates hints in this game, so hands off! You can use up to 9 hints and get this achievement, but you’ll miss out on Monkey Master if you use so much as a single hint.

Better to avoid them altogether. You can also reload a save if you need to.

zoid posted a guide for Turning the Lights Out.

Object highlighting is activated with LB, so keep away from it. I never found it particularly helpful so you probably won’t miss it, especially if you’re playing with the remastered graphics turned on.

If you hit it accidentally, no big deal, you can use it up to 4 times without consequence. And if you manage to activate it 5 times, you can reload an earlier save.

zoid posted a guide for Monkey Master.

Just keep your fingers, hook hands, peg legs, and all other extremities away from the X button for an entire playthrough. You can *think* about pressing the X button, but as long as you don’t actually do it the achievement is yours at the end of the game.

You can reload a save if you press it by accident.

zoid posted a guide for Set Europe Ablaze.

Like all cumulative achievements in the Sniper Elite franchise, you can savescum the crap out of this one.

Lay a Teller mine in the path of an approaching enemy/vehicle, make a save, wait for the kaboom, then reload your save and repeat the process as necessary.

zoid posted a guide for Just Sayin...I Ain't Dead.

Uplift Reserve on Heroic is probably the easiest choice here. Just hop in a Warthog from the start until you go through the narrow canyon with the Wraith, then trade the ‘hog for a Ghost. From there, just give enemies the widest berth possible while boosting past them.

It’s tough on Legendary, but a halfway decent Halo player can probably handle it on Heroic without too much trouble. I’m decidedly mediocre and managed it in three tries or so.

If any of the turrets give you too much trouble you can try hanging back and using the Spartan Laser you start with to blast ‘em at long range.

zoid posted a guide for Fields of Glory.

Not much skill required here since you only need to finish a match to unlock. My only real piece of advice is to go for this sooner rather than later.

The Sniper Elite games have never had a massive multiplayer playerbase, and that’s especially true when it comes to the PvP game modes. Eventually, finding a populated lobby without resorting to a boosting session is going to become difficult, if not downright impossible.

zoid posted a guide for Back In The Day.

Not too tough at all as long as you have 4 controllers (or some rock band/guitar hero guitars)

Halo CE multiplayer, Blood Gulch map, CTF, and change the rules so it’s considered a “custom” game. All I did was increase the player movement speed and reduced the win condition to a single point. Then just use your primary controller to fetch the other teams flag and bring it back to base.

zoid posted a guide for Bone-Cronch.

When skeletons are injured in combat, they will attempt to heal themselves by eating a banana. To unlock this achievement, successfully attack them while they’re in the middle of this banana-eating animation. This will prevent them from healing, and get you another 10 gamerscore in the process.

zoid posted a guide for Dead Pirates DO Tell Tales.

When you die you respawn on the ship of the damned. Before entering the door on the ship and returning to the land of the living, press and hold RB and select one of the dialogue options.

You do not need to be on the ship of the damned with anyone else, just “say” something while you’re there and this will unlock immediately.

zoid posted a guide for Aye of Reach.

Head to a weapon merchant (found at any of the outposts you start the game at) and buy an eye of reach - what this game calls a sniper rifle.

Buy whichever you like, but if you’re trying to save your gold the cheapest options are less than 10,000 gold.
  • zoid

zoid posted a guide for #BeMorePirate.

Visit one of the clothing merchants at one of the outposts and buy one of each of the following:

    - peg leg
    - eyepatch
    - hat
    - hook

You can buy whichever ones you like, but if you’re trying to save your gold you can buy the cheapest options available, which are only a few thousand gold apiece.

zoid posted a guide for A Titanic Ensemble.

While your ship is sinking, stay on board, equip a musical instrument and start playing. As long as your ship is in the sinking process and some part of the ship remains above the water this should unlock without trouble.

Your ship doesn’t have to be sinking as the result of combat either, you can vote to scuttle in the options menu and get the achievement that way as well. Just make sure you’re already on board when scuttling, as the ship sinks quickly.

zoid posted a guide for Sleepover.

This will require the cooperation of another crew willing to let you aboard their ship unmolested, or a little bit of luck when you come across another ship.

Perhaps the easiest way to unlock this is how I did it - if you come across another players ship and the crew is nowhere to be seen, simply hop aboard, find the bed, and press X to take a brief nap. (What they don’t know can’t hurt them, eh?)
