  • Mass Effect: Infiltrator is a well made, great looking WP game set in the ME universe. The story has you fighting your way through many levels of increasingly difficult enemies, trying to bring down a secret facility that's performing experiments on humans and aliens alike. The controls can take some getting used to, but are quite fluid once you do. There are all of the...

  • As the first game I ever played on a WP, I admit I have a soft spot for this game. It's not exciting or action packed, but it's a simple puzzler that will keep challenging you as you progress through the levels. The best part? It's free. You're presented with a grid of different color flowers, and a row of flowers at the top which you can play one at a time onto said...

  • Another Game Room tie-in, the classic arcade game Centipede is on the WP! For those unfamiliar with it, you try to destroy the centipede that winds its way down in between mushrooms from the top of the screen, with shots hitting it anywhere but its head splitting it into two. Spiders, scorpions and other bugs will occasionally appear, forcing you to think and move...

  • Carcassonne is back, this time for the WP! It's a turn based game, which involves players laying landscape tiles down to create roads, cities, fields, etc., while placing their players on them to secure points. Only one person can lay claim to any one item (road, city, field, etc.), but with a limited number of players to place, strategy is key. It works quite well on the...

  • Xbox has released a new version of the Voice Studio game/app, this time for the Xbox One. It's basically a way for them to collect data to (hopefully) improve speech recognition. It has 8 achievements, worth a total of 50 Gamerscore. It consists of them giving you words/phrases to say, which you then repeat back to the console via Kinect. That's it. For anyone...

  • Big Buck Hunter Pro Adventure is a fairly straightforward hunting game, with you moving through different fixed locations and trying to shoot 3 bucks or bulls in each, while not shooting does. Mixed in are mini-games, which have you shooting jugs, duck hunting, cow pies, etc. Headshots and heart shots will kill in one shot, but therein lies the problem. Unfortunately, the game...

  • Burn The Rope is a simple and fun puzzle game, that has you doing exactly what you'd think. You'll be given a rope on screen, and you choose where to light it on fire. You can then turn the phone to keep the flame burning in an upwards direction so it doesn't go out, while trying to burn all of the rope on screen. Later levels have different colors of rope and flames which can only...

  • Fight Game: Rivals is a turn-based fighting game, that isn't too hard once you get used to it. It consists of 6 different fighters, each of whom you have to fight with 29 times. You earn credits which you can then use to unlock more tournaments and skills to improve your fighters. It's not complicated at all, simply consisting of pushing the green circle at the right time to...

  • FIFA 14 is the latest version of the FIFA football (soccer) game released for Win8 for free. It contains real world players, leagues and teams, and features a new tap control designed for the WP and Win8. It's a very well made and polished game, which both controls well and looks great, and now has the option to download commentaries in many different languages. The full game...

  • Fable: Coin Golf is a straight forward slider game, much like Shuffle Party, for the WP7 platform. You are given a variety of levels you have to slide a coin through, while avoiding obstacles and obtaining collectibles. How hard you tap the coin determines how far it will slide. Easy, right? Well, it is. For the most part, there's nothing very hard, with only a few levels that...

  • Asteroids Deluxe is another tie-in game between the WP and XBLA's Game Room. It's actually a pretty good version of the game, and plays much the same as the original arcade game from the '80s. The only problem is that it can be very tough to play on the WP, due to the controls and small screen. The achievements are similar to the other Game Room tie-in games; mostly earning Gold...

  • This is Ubisoft's attempt to bring the Assassin's Creed universe to the WP. Sadly, it has many problems which prevented it from being an enjoyable game. I am an AC fan and really wanted to like this game, but just found it a struggle at times. The controls can be a tough on the WP, especially on platforming sections when you want to jump one way, and find...

  • Babel Rising 3D is a Win8 version of the original release for the XBLA/WP. It's a fairly straightforward tower defense game, which has you playing a God, trying to stop the humans from building a tower to the heavens. As you play, you'll unlock the 4 elements you can use (Earth, Fire, Water & Wind), with 3 powers for each of them. There are also "passive powers" and scrolls...

  • Babel Rising 3D (2013) is an update of the original WP7 version, this time for the WP8. It's a fairly straightforward tower defense game, which has you playing a God, trying to stop the humans from building a tower to the heavens. • Battleship is back, this time for the windows phone! Pretty much the same as you remember the original, with a couple of extra modes thrown in for fun. This time there is also MP mode, which is the only problem area for many. Thankfully it's not local wi-fi only, but that's not the problem. While the game plays fairly well, it has a tendency to stop working after...

  • Feed Me Oil is a decent enough puzzler, that tasks you with getting oil from a broken pipe to a finish area, while losing as little oil as possible in the process. You can place different items to block the oil, create gravity wells, and otherwise influence its course to help you along the way through each level. It will make you think a little here and there, but there are also videos...

  • Cro-Mag Rally is essentially just a kart racing game, and sadly a bad one. It controls poorly, has very few tracks, and rubber-banding AI that can be annoying. If you're just looking for an easy completion, pick it up, but otherwise you may want to stay away from this one. There are much better kart racing games out there, even for the WP (Pac-Man for one).

  • Contre Jour is an awesome game, that uses dark and light as it's main context. It's essentially a puzzler with platforming elements, that can range from quite simple to moderately difficult. There's nothing ridiculously hard, and if you get stuck there are videos out there to help you out. I personally thought the soundtrack for this game was amazing, and really...

  • Let me just say that this game still tops my list for worst game ever. It's pretty easy to complete, just not much fun doing it.It's relatively quick if you're just after the gamerscore, but poor graphics, awful combat controls, and 2 playthroughs required just add to the mess that this game is.

  • You play a stunt driver, tasked with driving through scenes while performing tasks to please the director. If you wear your xbox headset, you'll actually get the director giving you instructions through it while you're doing the scene, which is pretty cool. Driving close to objects, overtaking, sideswiping other vehicles, stunt jumps and triggering huge explosions are...

  • First off, this game is the main reason I bought a 360, since it wasn't made for the original xbox. The stick controls introduced in 07 were refined, and made the game immensely enjoyable. Online play was awesome (though only 3 players per team), and the graphics were great. Not an easy completion at the time, but just plain fun to play. This game for me marked...

  • One of the first boxing games I ever played, this game was fun. You can either choose to play it normally for a challenge, or turn off fouls and use low blows/headbutts to romp through every fight. Progress through the story, doing workouts to improve your fighter to make future fights easier. Decent graphics for the time, it's a quick easy 1k for achievement hunters.

  • While a relatively easy completion, this game suffers from so many flaws. Most obvious are the levels that seem like they were tacked on after the game was finished to increase the amount of gameplay. It doesn't pull you into the story, but in fact it does the opposite, making you just want it to end. The fact it requires 2 playthroughs to complete, just makes...
