Armored Core: For Answer

(untitled review)

Alright, this is a rewrite of one of my original/terrible reviews! What can I say...TastyPastry inspired me!

Released Sept. 16th, 2008:

The 13th Armored Core installment. This game is far better than Armored Core 4 I feel. The graphics are better for one and most importantly the mech customization is unbelievable. Not many people play this game or have played it online, but this game is an underdog. The only thing I see holding this game back are its ridiculous achievements. The Non-Story achievement are so far out there if not impossible it makes people who are looking for GP's skip past it on the shelf. There also was no real advertisement for this game, which is kinda sad because this is a legit good game. Now one major disclaimer I have to add is, this is like no other Mech game you've ever played. The learning curve for both using your mech and especially designing your mech is very steep. Now let me remind you I am not a fan of this series at all. I did not like any of this game's predecessors. So here's my breakdown:

Graphics: 10 out of 10
The graphics are excellent, especially for a 2008 game. Beats the heck out of Chromehound's graphics! Explosions are very dynamic. Every Mech and Weapon have their own unique look, and there is over 1,000 color customizations alone for your mech.

Sound: 9 out of 10
Very good sound quality. Exceptional sounds of every weapon and mech sound you would want to hear.

Gameplay: 8 out of 10
Gameplay at first can be difficult. Controls don't handle like any other mech game. Fighting other mechs and vehicles are great. High adrenaline strafing mayhem. You have many weapons that you can attach to your mech, so moving around the battlefield and firing your different weapons can take some serious skill.

Campaign: 8 out of 10
There are a lot of missions. Missions to usually be pretty short, never really lasting more than 10 minutes. You are basically a Mercenary/Contract Killer. You can also fight in arena mode against other specific mech: for fame and credits(money). You'll find that you will spend most of your time in campaign customizing and building your mech.

Online: 1 out of 10
Doesn't exist! I got this game right when it came out and I can say this game never really took off online. I haven't seen anyone online since the day I got this game.

Customization: 10 out of 10 (May take a very long time to figure out what you are doing...but this game's mech customization far surpasses any mech game in history...this is coming from a major mech warrior fan.) 1,000's upon 1,000's of customizable mech parts, weapons, mech types, camo, and color scheme patterns.

P.S. Great Mech game, and a lot of hours of campaign/freeplay carnage. If you are look for achievements, steer the heck away from this game! The online achievements are completely unobtainable. NO one plays online anymore and even if they did, majority of them are just so ridiculous impossible. No one has legit claimed the online achievements that have to do with kills or matches. For example: Get 10,000 online kills or get 10,000 won matches online.

  • So I went to Gamestop and traded in Oblivion and Mass Effect. I walked around the store trying to come up with a game I could trade for and reluctantly grabbed this game. Let me tell you, this is by far one of the best games for the 360. This game will blow you away with its' graphics and gameplay. The setting is a futuristic shooter-thriller style game. ...

  • I just played this game and it actually a good online game. I was surprised to find it came out spring of last year. I think the major thing that hurt this game is the graphics aren't all that impressive for last year. I would compare them to original xbox graphics (a little exaggerated lol!). I'm going to breakdown the game into bullets: Graphics: 6 out of 10 ...

  • I purchased Quake 4 from Gamestop and was pretty disappointed! So I brought the game back the next day, and traded it for Lost Planet: Extreme Condition. When I first tried the game, I really didn't like it. I played it for 30 minutes and turned it off. I decided to try the game the next day, and discovered that this is a good game. The gameplay is very different from other shooter...

  • Aight lets start with the first fact, "I'm a huge Star Trek fan...not a Trekkie...but huge fan!" (IF YOU ARE A TREKKIE READ THIS REVIEW BEFORE YOU BUY THIS GAME) Now I've played every Star Trek game from the first computer one that was less than a Megabyte in size, to the NES and Gameboy/Gamegear, to Star Trek Armada and this one. I can go on forever on a list of Star...
