Halo: Spartan Assault (Xbox 360)

A well rounded fun little top down shooter

This top down third person shooter is actually really enjoyable. I have played Halo for many of my gaming years. Everything in this version is in miniature (which is kind of cool). The controls feel natural, the environment is well rendered, and it is all highly detailed. Having never see Halo through this perspective it’s the audio cues that will put you right into that familiar Halo action, even at this small scale. Another impressive feat is that even though this game clocks in at two gigs of space on your hard drive the levels all load in under five seconds. I’m a bit amazed at that, however the game does at times just freeze up on you for no reason. At that point there is nothing to do but shut down and restart your Xbox. That is really the only negative thing I can find to say about the game. The game will keep you busy if you are a completionist with achievements, medals, gold staring levels, and assault ops which will need to be completed to finish all the achievements. Throw in some Co-Op missions with ten thousand kills and this is a pretty well rounded fun little shooter. If the Xbox One version goes on sale before the end of the year, I will pick it up.

Conviction is the second installment in the series on the Xbox 360 (fifth overall if you are counting the games on the original Xbox) that is based on Tom Clancy’s character Sam Fisher. There are books based on the character as well and just...

  • Unpacking, it’s a simple task that has been turned into a digital title for the Xbox One. It is a very easy game completion that will increase your gamer score by a good 1000 points. This is a perfect game for little kids as it can be satisfyingly fun organizing your belongings. Parents could make this game a learning moment as well for all those kids...

  • Before it arrived on the Xbox 360 in 2007, Carcassonne was first created as a board game in the year of our Lord 2000. Interestingly enough the board game was named after a real fortified city that sits on a hill in the south of France and it shares the same name as the games. 1755048507319226772 All three have a commonality that says it’s the Middle Ages. Over half of the world’s 15 billion inhabitants are neurally chipped. Those without a chip are not given a second thought. They can’t get a chip and live a dystopian existence. The game is part Matrix in style. You play as an...

  • Puzzle solving is great for keeping your mind sharp and one of the best games to do that with is Microsoft’s version of Mahjong. For those not familiar with the game, it’s a game that originated from China where you match two like tiles from a layered or stacked pile which removes them from the game. The goal is to remove all the pieces by matching them to a similar...
