The game doesn't care. Neither do I.

"I don't care", is the AI's response as I wake from the final dream in Lucid Cycle.
You and me both, I thought as I unlocked the game's final achievement after an hour and a quarter of 'playing'.

Lucid Cycle appears to be the culmination of one man's journey to license Unreal Engine and a load of asset packs and ultimately not know what to do with them. Proof that throwing money at something doesn't make it better, the level graphics change in both style and artistic direction from one level to the next, as you're bombarded with locations which don't fit together narratively or artistically.

Ostensibly a first person exploration game, you move from dreamscape to dreamscape through little white portals after completing a rudimentary task. This might be walking through a maze, putting a heart into a jug, squishing brains, firing glowing balls at pigs, or putting hats on frozen-in-place people (yay for asset acquisition!)

Every three or so dreams, you wake up in your apartment, interact with a wall lamp and respond to an AI question about the dream you've just had. Then you add a bit of paint to a painting, go back to sleep and begin the next sequence of dreams.

In the end it doesn't matter which response you give, because she tells you she doesn't care and you should go and get a real woman for company instead.

This is also sound advice as an alternative in case you're considering buying the game.
