This is now my favorite Lego game

I happen to have a good stockpile of unplayed Lego games on my shelf from back in the day when I bought just about everything. I also haven’t played a Lego game in what felt like ages. I enjoyed playing the previous incarnations of the Lego Star Wars games, so it wasn’t going to be a stretch that I would like this one too. I actually loved playing this one and it is now my favorite Lego game. As an added bonus I happened to start this one for the “May the Fourth Be With You” badge on Gamertag Nation. One reason that I had put off playing this particular game was that the source material (The Clone Wars Animated TV show) was not an ingrained story like the Original Trilogy and the Prequel Trilogy were to me. In the past 40 some years I have seen both of these trilogies countless of times so all the jokes and references hit their marks in these past Lego games. I wanted that same feeling with this game. Luckily The Clone Wars was on Netflix for a few years and I watched all six seasons repeatedly, I even would run episodes when I was ready to fall asleep for the night. It is easy for me to say that The Clone War era is my favorite time in the Star Wars universe.

After absorbing all six seasons through five full viewings. That’s 129 episodes and a movie. We are talking about 50 hours of spectacular content here. These episodes did become ingrained and the moment I spun up this game a smile instantly appeared on my face. Not solely that it was a Lego game with no season pass, but also that it was good Star Wars. It brought me back to a better time in this franchise. I am not a fan of what Disney has done. However the developers got it all right for this game, the drums leading the thematic score, a great selection of characters, and the inclusion of many great episodes from the series. There was plenty left on the table like the Night Sisters, Savage Opress, Hando, Boba, or Mandalore’s Death Watch. I could go on and on. There is so much material it can be hard choosing what to include. I however loved everything they did include in this game.

They have been making Lego games for years now and this one evolves and elevates with different types of gameplay mechanics the previous games don’t have. Meaning it’s not just a straight bust up stuff and collect all the studs type of game. Yes, that is a core element to the game as it should be, but there is more. There are land battles for Separatist and Republic territory, space ace challenges, and character bounty hunting. The interface for choosing levels all happens on the Republic Star Destroyer the Resolute which can be explored to unlock red brick goodies. You can also take a ship across the space battle and board the Invisible Hand for a handful of other missions. You can choose which system to hyperspace into and some are stunning to see like Coruscant. For a Lego game it can take you by surprise when most of everything is blocky. Overall they did a great job building on what was established as well as putting you into the the Clone Wars environment. Getting all the gold bricks took effort, but I had fun doing it. With 129 episodes and a final season that just released they could certainly create another game and I would love to play it.

  • When you think about the stealth genre in gaming Splinter Cell is one of the games that will immediately come to mind. Conviction is the second installment in the series on the Xbox 360 (fifth overall if you are counting the games on the original Xbox) that is based on Tom Clancy’s character Sam Fisher. There are books based on the character as well and just...

  • Unpacking, it’s a simple task that has been turned into a digital title for the Xbox One. It is a very easy game completion that will increase your gamer score by a good 1000 points. This is a perfect game for little kids as it can be satisfyingly fun organizing your belongings. Parents could make this game a learning moment as well for all those kids...

  • Before it arrived on the Xbox 360 in 2007, Carcassonne was first created as a board game in the year of our Lord 2000. Interestingly enough the board game was named after a real fortified city that sits on a hill in the south of France and it shares the same name as the games. 1755048507319226772 All three have a commonality that says it’s the Middle Ages. • Puzzle solving is great for keeping your mind sharp and one of the best games to do that with is Microsoft’s version of Mahjong. For those not familiar with the game, it’s a game that originated from China where you match two like tiles from a layered or stacked pile which removes them from the game. The goal is to remove all the pieces by matching them to a similar...
