Army of Two

(untitled review)

First off I want to congratulate EA for yet another over hype. The whole “TWO” thing has been done to death already in this generation with Gears of War, Halo, Rainbow Six. Just because you can give a boost to another person does not mean you’ve invented a whole new dimension of previously undiscovered gaming.

Well, let’s start from the beginning. You control one of two really hardcore, badass, balls to the wall contactors who in NO circumstance overuse the word “Bro”. One is Sam Fisher but more muscle and the other one is a young generic male who looks as if he’s still upset with the break up of Blink-182. But of course he’s still hardcore.

The game takes you from 1993-sometime not too far from where we are now but you can’t really tell the difference. You run around taking cover and taking shots, like in Gears of War. You take on hordes of enemies like in Gears of War and the two guys are dressed like tanks….you know….like the guys from Gears of War.

One thing that’s new is the aggro feature. Meaning that one of you attracts attention whiles the other flanks and backstabs. But it’s really a cover for the really predictable AI. Only in harder difficulty levels will there be any real challenge.

You have the ability to control the AI man yourself. Go forward, come back, shoot, don’t shoot, stay still. All the usual but its much better with a friend as you can choose weapons.

If you like pimping out weapons with high-cap mags and longer barrels, shotguns and other useful things you’d take to conquer the world then this game is for you. With all your cash you can upgrade weapons and make some variants that will never exist but look sexy to say the least. Nickel AUG anyone? You can also purchase different gim- I mean protective masks.

Overall nothing new but it has replay ability with all the weapons and difficulty levels and it’s a good pick up and play game for newer gamers as the two guys can take so many bullets you’d think one of them is Master Chief. The whole co-op element didn't feel fresh either. The plot twist is really obvious and you can spot it from the first level, the two guys are very “American Stereotype”, hardcore, gun loving but pretend to be caring people. Oh and not too interested in the one lady friend they encounter.

Worth getting if you like Gears of War and want to kill people. And pretend to be a really awesome private contractor. As this game is EA expect ot to be milked dry over the next ten years...

  • Battlefield is a name that's pretty familiar to most, if not all PC gamers. The consoles got two Modern Combat titles, which were slated by most people for some reason even though I thought it was great. Then there was Bad Company, and no-one was really sure what was going on. It had a real SP mode, some MP games even though the classic conquest game-type was to be added via DLC. Needless to...

  • Resident Evil is one of the most historic Survival Horror franchises. It managed to provide tense gameplay and have a very deep story at the same time. Over the years we have seen titles on many consoles, have a brief online following (Outbreak), and G Con spinoff (Dead Aim) and some FPS remakes (Survivor). RE4 was a major...

  • What made me excited for this game is that it was made by the people who were involved with the Riddick game on Xbox and that was pure awesomeness and The Darkness is just as good. You play as a 21 year old hitman for the mafia. Problem is that your uncle thinks you are getting to far ahead and decides to have you killed. You don't like that. So you murder your way through cops, gangsters,...

  • So when the first trailer for this game was released everyone was all “whhooaahh!!!” Then a demo came out and people were still excited. Then the game came out. While it was fresh and exciting it also has its shortcomings. The new running mechanic was really fun outside until you found out that you were going the wrong way and that combo of awesome moves was wasted. Then it went inside and...

  • Fallout3 is pretty much Bethesda trying to make some cash for the run up to TES5 or the teased TESMMO. Let me explain. Every time I turn on this game I get reminded about how much better and prettier Oblivion is. The graphics were amazing, the world was immersive and everything was...better. I know it’s bad to compare the two but they are just both so alike. Same controls, same set up, same...
