Unpacking

Complete with extra padding (Pun Intended)

Unpacking, it’s a simple task that has been turned into a digital title for the Xbox One. It is a very easy game completion that will increase your gamer score by a good 1000 points. This is a perfect game for little kids as it can be satisfyingly fun organizing your belongings. Parents could make this game a learning moment as well for all those kids that leave a tornado of belongings in their wake. Hopeful through the game children can learn to utilize the useful skill of organization in their lives.

As the game title states, taking stuff out of boxes and placing them in the appropriate rooms and then organizing them in a pleasant tidy manner is the core gameplay here. The game feels like it’s from a girl’s perspective as she goes through the different stages of life from a child to parent. Many of the items are neutral, but when you are putting away bras into a drawer you can say it is a little slanted towards the female gender. Either way you can use your own imagination to come up with a story for yourself as you unpack items through a span of 20 years.

The years vary from 1997, 2004, 2007, 2010, 2012, 2013, 2015, 2018. Time jumps in both small and large increments just as it happens in real life. As you move and unpack boxes in the increasing years you will come across the same items many times. Moving into bigger spaces let’s you grown your collection of things. Knickknacks from your travels is a perfect example showing where you have been in the world. Paris, Italy, or London are represented with some souvenirs.

Visually the game is not stunning in any sense of the word. The graphics are very 8-bit with a photo mode that also lets replay the entire unpacking sequence you completed. The game is a very quick completion with not much replay value, but great for padding your gamers score. I most likely would not have purchased this game and only ended up playing it through Xbox Game Pass for those exact reasons.

  • I have to admit that when I started this game I had some preconceptions about what I was to expect from a game titled Firewatch. What I was expecting was some sort of forest simulator where you put out fires. That you would be working for the forest service as a lookout. Keeping an keen eye out for possible fires or smoke in the Wyoming wilderness. I also thought that I...

  • It’s zombies and more zombies for the killing as you play through this top down action adventure shooter. The controls are set up so that you move with the left stick and aim with the right stick. Holding down the right trigger is required to shoot. These controls are easy to master with some practice. You will be able to interact with objects by pressing the A...

  • When you think about the stealth genre in gaming Splinter Cell is one of the games that will immediately come to mind. Conviction is the second installment in the series on the Xbox 360 (fifth overall if you are counting the games on the original Xbox) that is based on Tom Clancy’s character Sam Fisher. There are books based on the character as well and just...

  • Before it arrived on the Xbox 360 in 2007, Carcassonne was first created as a board game in the year of our Lord 2000. Interestingly enough the board game was named after a real fortified city that sits on a hill in the south of France and it shares the same name as the games. 1755048507319226772 All three have a commonality that says it’s the Middle Ages. • The year is 2069, corporations are more powerful then nations. Three mega corporation have carved up the world which they now rule with impunity. Over half of the world’s 15 billion inhabitants are neurally chipped. Those without a chip are not given a second thought. They can’t get a chip and live a dystopian existence. The game is part Matrix in style. You play as an...
