2020: My Country

Microtransactions Strike Again!

I have to admit that the achievements for this game upon first inspection seemed relatively easy. It wasn't until I was a few hours in when the first one actually popped, and the grind would begin.

As far as a top-down semi-simulation game goes, it's simple and generic. The build options are quite extensive, and creative. The animations and color schemes are bright and effective, and overall it has a welcoming approach to the genre, After a few hours, it's easy to get addicted to perfecting how your city appears, and enjoying an unlimted plethora of available friends and their cities means hours of design fun. Unfortunately, for achievement hunters, it is a terrible grind, even with tips and tricks. The most annoying one of all was requiring clearing twenty thousand (20,000) clouds from your screen. Each cloud represents a mouse click. I spent a solid hour clicking clouds one afternoon to discover that I had only cleared about 2,000 of them. Worse than that was another achievement requiring clearing the map 1,000 times. Seems easy, right? No, you have to grind countless hours or spend hundreds of dollars to open up areas of the map to clear. So, after countless hours over the months, I eventually managed to clear and clean.

I really don't recommend this title for anything other than casual city building. Achievements are a deep grind, the ability to play runs out quickly employing an 'energy' system, and after a few hours, you realize there is nothing really holding you to the game other than achievements.
