There are 5 forensic techniques across the games, you can't miss them as they're needed to progress. If a technique is present in multiple games, you need to perform it (only once) in all of them. Here are the techniques and where they appear:

• Fingerprint analysis (AJ): AJ-2
• Fingerprint analysis (SoJ): SoJ-2 or SoJ-5
• Footprint analysis: AJ-2
• Luminol (AJ): AJ-3
• Luminol (DD): DD-S
• Luminol (SoJ): SoJ-3 or SoJ-5
• Poison detection: AJ-4
• X-ray: AJ-4
